The Brenda Strafford Foundation (BSF) is a charitable organization that currently owns and operates five Aging Care & Senior Living communities in Calgary, AB, and Okotoks, AB.

We take pride in providing a safe, caring, and comfortable home environment that caters to the complex needs of our senior residents and families.

Locally, in Calgary, BSF also operates Alberta’s largest second-stage shelter providing safe shelter and comprehensive support services to women and children leaving abuse and violence.

The Role:

Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Education, the Educator plays a key role in delivering a wide range of educational services to support the workforce and specialty programs.

Key responsibilities include:

•    Identify learning needs across departments and support education planning and delivery accordingly
•    Design, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate site-specific education that incorporates best practices, accreditation standards, Continuing Care Health Services Standards, and The Foundation’s philosophy of care
•    Facilitate staff orientation, inservices, annual e-Learning, competency assessments and maintain accurate training records
•    Mentor staff and students and support their learning experiences
•    Serve as an education team representative on site committees and support quality improvement initiatives
•    Demonstrate and promote safe work practices in accordance with occupational health and safety requirements
•    Support infection prevention and control, safe handling of hazardous materials, and emergency response
•    Foster a positive work environment through respectful communication, teamwork, and professionalism

•    An enjoyment for coaching and mentoring and being a valued resource for all employees.

Required education and experience:
•    Active registration with CRNA
•    3–5 years of experience in adult education or clinical teaching, preferably in continuing care
•    Gerontology Nursing Specialty Certification an asset
•    Certificate or diploma in Adult Education an asset
