About Us:
The Brenda Strafford Foundation (BSF) is a charitable organization that currently owns and operates five Aging Care & Senior Living communities in Calgary, AB, and Okotoks, AB. We take pride in providing a safe, caring, and comfortable home environment that caters to the complex needs of our senior residents and families.
Locally, in Calgary, BSF also operates Alberta’s largest second-stage shelter called Heart Home Network providing safe shelter and comprehensive support services to women and children leaving abuse and violence.

The Role:
As our IT Support Specialist (Tier 2), you'll be a key player in delivering top-notch support for our end-users. Reporting to the Director of IM/IT, you'll handle everything from troubleshooting hardware and software issues to participating in exciting IT projects. Your expertise will help ensure our systems run smoothly and securely, making a meaningful impact in our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and resolve user problems efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption.
- Troubleshoot software, hardware, and peripheral issues with precision.
- Monitor and maintain systems, ensuring devices are up-to-date and secure.
- Document solutions and maintain accurate support logs.
- Configure and manage IT equipment, including computers, printers, and phones.
- Create and deploy desktop images for seamless user experiences.
- Administer user accounts and licenses in Active Directory and O365.
- Collaborate with external vendors on exciting IT projects.
- Uphold corporate security policies and maintain data integrity.
- Provide remote assistance using a variety of support tools.
- Foster positive relationships with users, enhancing our collaborative team environment.
- Submit regular status reports to management, keeping everyone informed.

Who We're Looking For:
Qualifications & Education:
- Degree or Diploma in Information Technology (preferred)
- Relevant certifications (e.g., MCP, A+, Network+, MCSE) are a plus
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years of IT support experience.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in configuring, installing, and deploying PC hardware and Windows operating systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Basic network administration skills and familiarity with help desk software are assets.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with call accounting systems.
- Familiarity with SharePoint and Office 365.
- Knowledge of backup and recovery solutions (e.g., ExaGrid).
- A proactive approach to continuous learning and adaptation to new technologies.
