The Brenda Strafford Foundation (BSF) is a charitable organization that currently owns and operates five Aging Care & Senior Living communities in Calgary, AB, and Okotoks, AB. We take pride in providing a safe, caring, and comfortable home environment that caters to the complex needs of our senior residents and families.

Locally, in Calgary, BSF also operates Alberta’s largest second-stage shelter providing safe shelter and comprehensive support services to women and children leaving abuse and violence.

As the Knowledge Mobilization Specialist, you will play a key role in bridging the gap between research, innovation, and practice in continuing care, international healthcare, and community supports. This position is ideal for someone who excels at translating complex information into actionable insights, engaging diverse audiences, and driving the adoption of evidence-based solutions.

This position will report to the Innovation and Research Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of research projects, maintaining an up-to-date inventory.

  • Support the collection, organization, and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including researchers, frontline staff, residents, families, and policymakers.

  • Conduct literature reviews and environmental scans to identify best practices, emerging trends, and current states in the field.

  • Provide training and education to management and frontline staff on new projects and best practices.

  • Draft compelling grant applications and research proposals to secure project funding.

  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to align research and project objectives with organizational goals.

  • Develop and implement knowledge mobilization strategies to translate research findings into accessible, actionable formats.

  • Create engaging knowledge products, including reports, policy briefs, toolkits, infographics, and digital content.

  • Facilitate the dissemination of findings through presentations, workshops, stakeholder engagement initiatives, and online platforms.

Who We're Looking For:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Master’s preferred).

  • Experience: Demonstrated expertise in research coordination, knowledge mobilization, and communications.

  • Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information for diverse audiences.

  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with content creation tools.

  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Knowledge: Familiarity with research and evaluation ethics, qualitative and quantitative research methods, and knowledge translation frameworks.

  • Passion for Impact: A deep commitment to learning, innovation, and driving meaningful change in healthcare and community settings.
