The Role:

At the Brenda Strafford Foundation, we are committed to delivering exceptional person-centered care while fostering a culture of safety, respect, and inclusivity. As a Clinical Occupational Therapist, you will be a vital part of our multidisciplinary team, responsible for assessing, reassessing, and treating residents to help them achieve their highest level of function and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, conduct, and evaluate resident treatment programs.
  • Assess residents’ therapy needs upon admission and regularly review therapy plans.
  • Provide rehabilitation treatment and support to maintain residents’ optimal functioning.
  • Assess residents for seating, wheelchairs, and mobility aides, ensuring their access to necessary equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records and data as required by Restorative Care documentation policy.
  • Collaborate with the care team to ensure integrated, effective treatment plans.
  • Supervise and guide Certified Therapy Aides in implementing treatment programs.
  • Advise nursing staff on transfer techniques, mobility aids, and equipment maintenance.

Who We're Looking For:

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program.
  • Registered Occupational Therapist in Alberta.
  • Previous experience in Occupational Therapy, ideally within long-term care, is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • AADL Authorizer certification is an asset.
  • Licensed with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists and eligible for Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (C.A.O.T.) membership.

Additional Requirements:

  • Criminal record check in accordance with Alberta Health and Wellness standards.
  • Physical demands include medium duties with repetitive motions and walking/lifting tasks.
  • Participation in the Foundation's OH&S program and commitment to safe work practices.

In accordance with Alberta's Protection for Persons in Care Act, a criminal record check is required for successful candidates.
