The Role:
The Painting Technician is responsible for delivering high quality painting services and light building improvements at the Heart Home Network. This role combines skilled surface preparation and finishing with hands on painting renovation tasks such as drywall patching and fixture hanging and replacements as needed. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, safety-minded, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team in a shelter environment.

Who We're Looking For:
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and finish interior and exterior surfaces including walls, ceilings, doors, and trim
- Perform minor renovation tasks such as drywall patching, mudding, taping, sanding, and texture matching to prepare and finish off painting projects
- Complete small carpentry repairs including baseboard installation, door adjustments, and minor wall or ceiling repairs
- Conduct surface inspections to identify defects, moisture issues, or substrate concerns before painting
- Assist with moving furniture/appliances around building – 2 person moves.
- Building of furniture (as necessary)
- Apply coatings using brushes, rollers, and sprayers while following manufacturer specifications
- Maintain maintenance ticket tracking system
- Protect work areas through masking, covering, and proper site preparation
- Maintain tools and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Collaborate with leadership and operations team to confirm project requirements and timelines
- Follow safety protocols including ladder use, PPE, and WHMIS guidelines
Additional Information:
- 3+ years of residential or commercial painting experience
- Proficiency in drywall repair and basic carpentry
- Strong understanding of surface preparation techniques
- Ability to read work orders and follow project specifications
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Knowledge of safety standards (WHMIS, fall protection, respirator use etc.)
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
- Training in Trauma Informed Practices
