The Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail oriented Payroll Administrator to join our Payroll team in a dynamic healthcare environment. This senior level role requires strong ownership, sound judgment, and a commitment to accuracy and compliance.You will be responsible for delivering end to end payroll and benefits administration across a complex multi employee group organization. This includes managing benefits operations, resolving complex payroll issues, and strengthening governance and controls. Key Responsibilities
Payroll Operations
Complete end to end payroll processing across employee groups using SAP Employee Central Payroll ECP
Validate payroll results to ensure accuracy of earnings deductions benefits and taxes
Perform gross to net validations and post payroll checks and support Team Lead review
Review payroll inputs including one time payments retro adjustments and terminations
Partner with Finance on GL postings reconciliations clearing accounts and remittances
Support year end activities including T4s ROEs tax reconciliations and reporting
Benefits Administration
Own end to end benefits administration including enrolments changes terminations and eligibility
Ensure accurate data flow between SAP SuccessFactors and benefits providers and resolve issues
Act as primary contact for carriers and third party administrators and manage escalations
Reconcile benefit deductions and employer contributions and resolve discrepancies
Partner with HR on leave and disability cases to ensure accurate coverage and deductions
Maintain procedures checklists and documentation and support team knowledge sharing
Respond to employee and manager inquiries in a professional and confidential manner
System Monitoring and Issue Resolution
Monitor system controls reports and error logs for payroll and benefits
Coordinate issue resolution with HR Scheduling and IT HRIS teams
Investigate exceptions identify root causes and implement corrective actions
Support system enhancements releases and testing including time and attendance impacts
Compliance and Documentation
Ensure compliance with employment standards tax legislation collective agreements and privacy requirements
Support audits reporting and documentation requests
Maintain up to date procedures process maps and work instructions
Identify risks and recurring issues and implement corrective and preventive controls
Team Collaboration
Partner with Payroll HR Scheduling and Finance teams to ensure accurate processes
Act as escalation point for payroll and benefits inquiries
Identify process gaps and drive improvements and efficiencies
Provide coaching knowledge sharing and team support

Who We're Looking For:

Qualifications & Experience
- 5–10+ years of progressive payroll experience, including benefits administration
- Experience in unionized environments strongly preferred; healthcare sector experience is an asset
- Expertise in complex payroll scenarios (overtime, retro pay, statutory rules, leaves)
- Strong experience managing employer-sponsored benefits plans and provider relationships
- Proven ability to lead payroll processes, support decision-making, and handle escalations
- Deep understanding of payroll legislation, deductions, remittances, and compliance
- Experience with SAP SuccessFactors EC and ECP is highly preferred
- Familiarity with time & attendance / scheduling integrations
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical, and reconciliation skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
Certifications
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation from the National Payroll Institute (required)
