The Role:

Position Summary
The Payroll Team within Financial Services is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Administrator for a 6-month term. This role focuses on the day-to-day operations of payroll in a high-volume, unionized environment, where accuracy, compliance, and collaboration are critical.

The successful candidate will bring 5–10+ years of payroll experience, ideally with 2–3 years in a lead or supervisory capacity, and have experience with SAP SuccessFactors EC and ECP.  This role will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing, supporting post-go-live stabilization, and driving continuous process improvement.
 

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Operations
•    Collaborate with payroll team members to complete end-to-end payroll processing across all employee groups using SAP ECP.
•    Validate and audit payroll results to ensure accuracy in earnings, deductions, benefits, and taxes.
•    Perform gross-to-net validations, post-payroll checks, and approve final payroll results for posting.
•    Review and validate payroll inputs such as one-time payments, bonuses, retro adjustments, and terminations.
•    Coordinate with Finance on GL posting validation, off-cycle runs, and payroll funding files.
•    Oversee year-end activities including T4 slips, tax reconciliations, and government filings.


System Monitoring & Troubleshooting
•    Monitor the ECP Control Center and related tools to identify, track, and resolve operational issues or data inconsistencies.
•    Collaborate with HR, IT, and Scheduling teams to ensure master data accuracy and seamless data flow between SAP SuccessFactors EC, ECP, and time and attendance systems.
•    Investigate and correct payroll errors (e.g., overpayments, incorrect payments), and advise departments on solutions.
•    Support post-go-live stabilization efforts and contribute to system optimization within SAP and Makeshift.


Compliance & Documentation
•    Ensure compliance with local tax laws, employment standards, and collective agreements.
•    Act as the point of contact for audits, internal reviews, and payroll compliance checks.
•    Maintain and update electronic payroll records and system data.
•    Create and maintain user documentation, payroll procedures, and training materials.
•    Support employee inquiries and provide guidance on payroll-related matters with professionalism and confidentiality.


Process Improvement & Collaboration
•    Participate in meetings to review and improve business processes.
•    Provide recommendations to better leverage payroll systems and ensure consistency across practices.
•    Cross-train with team members to maintain functional coverage and support a collaborative team environment.

Who We're Looking For:

  • 5–10+ years of payroll experience, with 2–3 years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of payroll operations, statutory deductions, tax rules, and compliance.
  • Experience with SAP SuccessFactors EC, ECP error logs, and replication monitoring.
  • Familiarity with time and attendance data integration and collaboration with scheduling teams.
  • Experience supporting post-go-live payroll system implementations is an asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional coordination and employee support.

Certifications
Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation from the National Payroll Institute is required.
