The Role:

We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance, handling general repairs, and ensuring the safety and functionality of the building. You will also contribute to energy reduction efforts, assist with furniture moves, and support event setups. Additionally, you will oversee contractors, mentor new staff, and ensure a safe and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to safety and quality. Administrative:

  • Execute department goals and provide feedback to the Manager.
  • Integrate the Quality Improvement Program into daily operations.
  • Document quality improvement indicators.
  • Attend facility committee meetings as assigned.
  • Identify energy reduction and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Coordinate with contractors as directed by the Manager.

General:

  • Handle hazardous materials according to WHMIS and department guidelines.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks (plumbing, electrical, window, floor repairs).
  • Complete minor carpentry and renovation projects.

Maintenance:

  • Conduct scheduled maintenance and follow preventive maintenance programs.
  • Inspect resident appliances for safety and CSA approval.
  • Remove snow from walkways and assist with deliveries, moves, and event setups.

Supervisory:

  • Supervise contractors and mentor new staff.
  • Promote safety, teamwork, and in-service training.
  • Respond to emergencies and maintain a safe work environment.

Safety:

  • Ensure proper chemical labeling and storage.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment and building safety.
  • Promote resident safety, follow infection control procedures, and conduct audits.

Who We're Looking For:

We are looking for a dedicated 5th Class Power Engineer to join our team! This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with a technical background to apply their skills and grow in a dynamic work environment.

Education:

  • Trade Certification or 5th Class Power Engineer designation

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of technical experience in a similar role

  • Basic working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

  • Basic computer proficiency

  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods

  • Capable of lifting objects up to 50 lbs
